It is exciting to share that our search for a new superintendent has yielded a number of qualified applicants. On April 11, six of the most qualified were interviewed by a committee of 12 representatives of the Paradise Unified School District and the community at large. Finalists were agreed upon by the vast majority of interview panelists and moved forward for a second interview with the Board of Trustees on April 18
We hope to be able to introduce the new superintendent at the May board meeting.
Healthy Kids Survey 2025
04/08/2025 09:00 AM
Sometime throughout April 28th through May 30th grades 3-12 will be asked to be a part of our school’s California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE). Sample surveys are attached below for review.
This is a very important ANONYMOUS survey that will help promote better health and well-being among our youth, improve the school learning environment, and combat problems such as drug abuse and violence. The survey gathers information on developmental supports provided to youth, school connectedness and barriers to learning, as well as behaviors such as physical activity and nutritional habits, alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, and school safety.
This type of data is invaluable when it comes to PUSD putting additional supports in place in the classroom, at the school site, and/or for the district as a whole.
Spring is here, and with it are many new beginnings!
As you know, Superintendent Tom Taylor is retiring at the end of this school year and PUSD is in the process of hiring a new superintendent.
A small committee was formed to organize and facilitate this important process. The committee, including Tom Taylor, David McCready, Bill Sharrett, and Susan Davis (two board members) has met a number of times to map out a plan to recruit the most qualified candidates. The position has been posted on multiple education websites and applications are coming in. On April 11th, an interview panel will convene to interview the most qualified applicants.
The committee will consist of:
The Assistant Superintendent of Business Services
The Director of Student Services which includes Special Education
A secondary teacher and President of the Teachers Association of Paradise
A secondary administrator with experience in charter schools and Butte County Office of Education
An elementary teacher
An elementary administrator
A parent
A student
A member of Classified School Employees Association representing classified employees
A community member
A representative from the Town of Paradise
Two Paradise Unified School District Board Members
Finalists from the April 11th interviews will be moved forward and have a final interview with the school board in mid April.
